Lost Highway is a sub-label of Universal Musics Holding Nashville with a focus on alternative country and roots rock , whose products are sold through Island Def Jam Records .

history

The label was founded in 2000 by Luke Lewis and was the first to release the soundtrack for O Brother, Where Art Thou? which was produced by T-Bone Burnett . This was able to prevail at the Grammy Awards 2002 as the best album. Since its inception, more than 50 different albums by various country and roots rock musicians have been released. In 2007 country stars Merle Haggard , George Jones and Ray Price released their first album together on Lost Highway.

In addition, several other famous alternative country musicians such as Lucinda Williams , Lyle Lovett and Elvis Costello are under contract with the label. In addition to releases of current singers, the label also brings out compilations of well-known former country musicians such as Conway Twitty , Patsy Cline and Hank Williams .
