Lothar Krumbeck

Lothar Eduard Nikolaus Krumbeck (born September 11, 1878 on Gut Kowardiaki near Brest-Litowsk , † June 11, 1958 in Erlangen ) was a German paleontologist and geologist.

Krumbeck, son of a landowner, went to school in Hameln (grammar school), Karlsruhe and Hanover (war school). From 1901 he studied geology and paleontology in Munich and received his doctorate in Munich in 1905, and from 1906 he was assistant at the Geological Institute of the University of Erlangen . In 1911, after completing his habilitation, he became a private lecturer, in 1916 a non-civil servant professor and in 1935 a conservator. In 1939 he was made an adjunct professor and in 1945 dismissed by the American military government . In 1948 he retired.

He was considered an expert on the Franconian Jura . He also edited paleontological finds from Johannes Wanner from Indonesia and edited the Erlangen-Nord sheet of the Geological Map of Bavaria (1931).
