Lothar Waldowski (* 1930 / 1931 ) is a former German basketball national player and coach and sports scientist .

career

Waldowski was born in West Prussia and studied sport and mathematics in Berlin . He first played soccer, in 1951 he joined the basketball team at the Berlin Sports Club. The 1.75 meter tall player took part in the qualifying games for the European Championship with the German national team in 1955, and played a total of 17 international matches.

In 1957 he came to Münster as a university lecturer on the mediation of Gerhard Nacke-Erich , he initially played for VfL Osnabrück . In January 1961 he was co-founder of the University Basketball Club Münster , whose women's and later also the men's teams coached. He was also the national coach of the German women's national team and head of the basketball department at UBC Münster. As a coach, he led Munster's men's team in 1969 for promotion to the two-track basketball league . In 1979 Waldowski became UBC Chairman and remained in office until 1989.

In the course of his professional career he took up a professorship at the Institute for Physical Education at the University of Münster . He published the book “Basketball. Training. Technology.
