history

The history of the Lotter brothers company begins in 1810 when Christoph Heinrich Lotter (1787–1834) opened a pastry shop in the house at Körnerstrasse 16 in Ludwigsburg . Traditionally, the year 1840 is considered the year the company was founded. The year 1850 brought a turning point, as iron and iron goods became increasingly important for the company. The number of employees rose from originally 12 (1908) to 70 (1927), and finally to 140 employees (1939). After the Second World War , Johannes Ernst gave his son and daughters a stake in the company he had run alone until then, which has since been continued as a limited partnership. When Johannes Ernst died in 1970 at the age of 93, Theodor Ernst was already supported in the management by his sons Helmut and Gerhard. In 1981 Helmut Ernst was accepted into the family company as a personally liable partner. In the following years, several subsidiaries were founded: in 1982 Industriebau Bönnigheim GmbH + Co. KG, based in Bönnigheim, 1990 Dorow & Sohn KG, based in Oschatz, 1991 Lotter Metall GmbH + Co. KG, based in Borna, and 2001 Lotter + Liebherr GmbH with headquarters in Gaggenau, 2009 C. Schrade GmbH with headquarters in Neckarsulm, 2012 Stahlhandel Haug GmbH + Co. KG with headquarters in Bad Friedrichshall and on March 1, 2015 the company shares (100%) of Hans were taken over Dewald GmbH (quality and bright steel, logistics and sawing services) in Pleidelsheim.
