Louis Clyde Hudson (born July 11, 1944 in Greensboro , North Carolina , † April 11, 2014 in Atlanta , Georgia ) was an American basketball player.
Career
After three years at the University of Minnesota , Lou Hudson was selected fourth by the St. Louis Hawks in the 1966 NBA Draft . For the franchise, which moved to Atlanta in 1968, he played for the first eleven years of his NBA career. In the first year he was elected to the All-Rookie First Team . From 1969 to 1974 he was invited to the All-Star Game for six years in a row . In 1972 he was also elected to the All-NBA Second Team . For the first seven years with the Hawks, the team reached the playoffs every year, but never got beyond the division finals. The playoffs have been missed for the past four years.
In 1977 he moved to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Ollie Johnson . He played for the Lakers for another two years. In the first year the team failed in the first round of the playoffs, in the second year the second round was reached.
Hudson completed a total of 890 games in the NBA and scored 17,940 points.
