Louchie Lou & Michie One was a British reggae - pop - duo from London consisting of the singers and songwriters was Louise Gold and Michelle Charles.
biography
The two musicians met in 1991 at a Rebel MC concert and began working together. Her debut single Rich Girl , an adaptation of the song If I Were a Rich Man from the musical Fiddler on the Roof , was released in 1993 and inspired u. a. Gwen Stefani on her own version, which was listed in the charts worldwide in 2004.
Louchie Lou & Michie One had their first chart success in 1993 with Shout (It Out) , which is based on Lulu's 1964 hit Shout and The Art of Noises Peter Gunn from 1986. The song entered the UK charts in May 1993 and reached number 7, and in August it was followed by a one-week stay at number 24 on the Austrian charts . Also in August, the follow-up single Somebody Else's Guy (Me Did Love You) rose to number 54 in the UK.
Another small hit did not follow until 1995. In August of that year Get Down on It , a cover version of the Kool-and-the-Gang hit from 1981, placed 58th for one week.
Cecilia , a feature with the madness front man Suggs , was the duo's second top 10 hit in April 1996 at number 4 and the second chart success in Austria with number 28. The originally performed by Simon & Garfunkel coming song from 1970 was in this new version of Sly and Robbie produced . After Louchie Lou & Michie One reached number 34 in the UK charts with Good Sweet Lovin ' in June of that year , No More Alcohol , another collaboration with Suggs, made it to number 24 there in September.
With releases such as The Honeymoon Is Over (1997), Don't Stand so Close to Me , Body Rock (1999) and 10 Out of 10 (2000), more single was released, but it was no longer a chart success. Then the two protagonists went their separate ways.
