Loudblast is a French thrash and death metal band from Villeneuve-d'Ascq , which was founded in 1985, dissolved in 1999 and re-formed in 2002. The band is considered an important French pioneer in the genre.

history

The band was formed in 1985. In the same year and the following year, she recorded a demo each . These spread quickly, which allowed them to increase their popularity. As a result, Loudblast achieved a split release with the band Agressor , which goes by the name Licensed to Thrash and was released in 1986.

In 1989 the band released their debut album, Sensorial Treatment . The publications followed concerts with Coroner , Watchtower , Sacred Reich and Manowar . With the album and the concerts, a degree of professionalism had been reached that overwhelmed the drummer Joris Terrier. The bond with the Agressor group was now paying off, as it was learned that Thierry Pinck had left them. With him Loudblast received new impulses. The next album was released in 1991 with Disincarnate , which was recorded with Scott Burns at Morrisound Studios in Tampa , Florida . This was followed by appearances in Europe together with Death , Cannibal Corpse and Sepultura . The next album, called Sublime Dementia , was also recorded at Morrisound Studios in 1993. The album cover was created by the painter Bolek Budzyn , who would also take on this role in later publications. In the same year, the band also released the Colin Richardson- produced EP Cross the Threshold .

Several tours followed, with the band sharing the stage with Carcass and Entombed, among others . Loudblast was named the “best live group” from Kerrang! Magazine, which the band made by performing at the Marquee Club , where they opened for Iron Maiden . With The Time Keeper , the first live album followed in 1995. In 1998, another studio album, Fragments, followed. In 1999 the band released the compilation A Taste of Death , which contained best-of pieces as well as unreleased material. Then the band broke up for the time being.

In 2002 the band came together again, with Alexandre Colin-Tocquaine, guitarist of Agressor, now playing in the band. Loudblast gave a tribute concert in honor of the late Chuck Schuldiner . The album Planet Pandemonium was released in 2004. The next album Frozen Moments Between Life and Death was released in 2011.

style

The musical development was based on the imitation of the Kreator idols . The music of the following period is described as American Thrash and Death Metal, which moves in the medium speed range. From around 1993 it became more catchy without sacrificing technical finesse. The band is known as the French pioneer of both genres.
