Louis-Paul Betz (born December 13, 1861 in New York City , † January 29, 1904 in Zurich ) was a German literary scholar.

Life

After attending grammar school in Zurich, Louis-Paul Betz studied law at the universities of Strasbourg and Freiburg . In 1886 he became a member of the Corps Rhenania Strasbourg . He then studied languages ​​at the University of Zurich , which made him a Dr. phil. PhD. In 1896 he became a private lecturer and in 1902 an associate professor and first professor for comparative literature at the University of Zurich and second for all of Switzerland.

Among other things, Betz worked on Heinrich Heine's literary reception in France and Pierre Bayle's journalistic work . He was married to Paula Frank, who after his death in 1906 married the Germanist Hans Bodmer .
