Louis Anthony DeSimone

Louis Anthony DeSimone (born February 21, 1922 in Philadelphia - † October 5, 2018 in Villanova , Pennsylvania ) was auxiliary bishop in Philadelphia .

Life

Louis Anthony DeSimone took as a soldier of the US Army in the Second World War, in part, then entered the seminary St. Charles Borromeo and received on 10 May 1952, the priestly ordination . In 1975 DeSimone was charged with organizing the 41st International Eucharistic Congress , which took place in Philadelphia the following year. Pope Paul VI also awarded him the title of Honorary Prelate of His Holiness ( Monsignor ) in 1976 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Philadelphia and titular bishop of Cillium on June 27, 1981 . The Archbishop of Philadelphia, Cardinal John Joseph Krol , donated him episcopal ordination on August 12 of the same year ; Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops John Joseph Graham and Martin Nicholas Lohmuller from Philadelphia.

On April 5, 1997, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. Louis Anthony DeSimone died in 2018 after a brief illness at the age of 96.
