Louis Carson Wagner, Jr. (* 24. January 1932 in Jackson , Missouri ) is a former general of the US Army , the last 1987-1989 Commanding General of the Army Material Command ( US Army Materiel Command ) was.

Life

Wagner completed an officer training at the US Military Academy in West Point , which he graduated in 1954. After various posts as an officer, he was Lieutenant Colonel in the Military Assistance Command, Vietnam (MACV) during the Vietnam War in 1965 and was honored with the Silver Star . During another assignment in Vietnam from 1971 to 1972, he received the Legion of Merit and, on October 3, 1972, the Distinguished Service Cross, due to his services as a member of the fourth advisory team of the Chief Advisor of the 1st Armored Brigade of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam . He was from 1973 to 1974 as a colonel in the office of the Chief of Army Staff ( Chief of Staff of the Army ) , General Creighton Abrams , and received a Bronze oak leaf branch instead of a second Legion of Merit. This was followed by numerous other uses within the US Army.

In 1984 Wagner became General Deputy Chief of Staff, Readiness, Department of the Army and remained in this post until 1987. For his services during this time, he was awarded an Army Distinguished Service Medal for the first time . Recently he released on April 13, 1987 General Richard H. Thompson as Commanding General of the Army Material Command ( US Army Materiel Command ) , and held that post until September 27, 1989., after General William GT Tuttle, Jr. began his successor. Because of his achievements in this role, he received a bronze oak leaf branch in place of a second Army Distinguished Service Medal. In 1992 he left active military service and retired.
