Louis Jansen

Lodewijk Frank Willem (Louis) Jansen (born August 27, 1915 in Brummen ; † April 10, 2010 in Oss , Netherlands ) was a Dutch local politician and long-time mayor .

biography

During the Second World War he was an active member of the Dutch resistance against the occupation of the Netherlands by the German Empire and lived temporarily in the underground .

Jansen became mayor (Burgemeester) of Cuijk in the province of North Brabant after the end of the war in 1946 and held this office until 1960. During this time, the city's growth began with the creation of the new industrial park after 1950.

In 1963 he was elected mayor of the city of Oss, also in the province of North Brabant . During his tenure, which lasted until 1980, he again campaigned for the city's industrial development. In addition to the expansion of the road network such as the connection to Rijksweg 50 to Nijmegen in 1975, the port was inaugurated in 1968 to complete the Mayor Deelen Canal (Burgemeester Delenkanaal) built in 1963 to connect with the Maas .

In 1969 he was awarded the Officer's Cross of the Order of Orange-Nassau for his services .
