Louis Page (cameraman)

Louis Page (born March 16, 1905 in Lyon , † March 3, 1990 in Soucy , Yonne) was a French cameraman .

Live and act

Page studied painting and set design at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris . He then worked as a painter until the end of the 20s . In 1930 Louis Page joined the film, Jean Cocteau hired him as his assistant director for The Blood of a Poet . Until the late 1930s, Page worked as a simple cameraman for some central French film productions such as The 14th of July , The Wise Women , A Weird Case and Harbor in the Fog . His teachers included Georges Périnal , Harry Stradling Sr. and Eugen Schüfftan .

From 1937 to 1939, Page first appeared as head cameraman when he was making the recordings for André Malraux's film documentary about the Spanish civil war Hope . From the time of the German occupation of France, Jean Grémillon's artistically ambitious productions ( weather lights , leap in the clouds ) deserve . In his final years at work, Louis Page mainly photographed highly commercial box office hits with Jean Gabin .
