Louis Perridon

Louis Perridon (born October 1, 1918 in Rotterdam , Netherlands ; † December 12, 2015 ) was a Dutch economist . He was the founding president of the University of Augsburg from 1970 to 1973.

Life

Louis Perridon studied law and economics in Paris. At the Université de Bordeaux he was awarded a Dr. iur. doctorate , in 1954 he completed his habilitation at the young Saarland University . He was initially Vice Director of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in Paris and then attaché to the General Management of the Philips Group in Paris.

Perridon received a call to the Université de Caen Basse-Normandie in Caen , in 1958 he moved to the University of Saarland. After several research and teaching stays in Pisa and Genoa , he received a chair for comparative business administration at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich (LMU) in 1965 .

In 1970 Louis Perridon became the founding president of the University of Augsburg and at the same time was appointed to the chair for finance and banking, which he held from 1970 to 1983. As early as the mid-1960s, he had created the concept for a new business and social science university in Augsburg and presented it to the Bavarian state. In 1983 he retired and was succeeded by Richard Stehle, followed by Manfred Steiner .

Louis Perridon lived in Munich .

Act

Perridon's main research interests were international comparative business administration, management theory and the history of the philosophy of economics. His merit lies in the combination of economic and social sciences.

In 2000 he was named “ Chevalier de l'Ordre des Palmes Académiques ” by the French Minister for Education, Research and Technology , one of the highest awards for services to the French education system. He was honored because of his initiative in the 1997 introduction of the Franco-German double diploma course "Franco-German Management" at the University of Rennes I and the University of Augsburg. In 2008 he was appointed Amicus Universitatis by the University of Augsburg . In 1983 he became an honorary member of the Catholic student association KDStV Algovia Augsburg in the CV .
