Louis Schuberth

Louis Schuberth (born April 18, 1806 in Magdeburg , † May 1850 in St. Petersburg ) was a German conductor and composer .

Life

Louis Schuberth was a brother of the publisher Julius Schuberth . He learned the cello from Dotzauer and studied theory and composition with Carl Maria von Weber . At the age of twelve he became a member of the Magdeburg Orchestra. Later he was a conductor in Oldenburg and Riga until he was hired at the theater in Königsberg in 1835 . In 1837 he went to Danzig and was replaced by Richard Wagner , but returned to Königsberg on October 1, 1840.

Works

Schuberth left behind string quartets, piano trios, piano sonatas and several symphonies.
