Luís Gonzaga da Cunha Marelim CM (born April 17, 1904 in Salvador , Bahia , Brazil , † December 21, 1991 ) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic bishop of Caxias do Maranhão .

Life

Luís Gonzaga da Cunha Marelim joined the Congregation of the Vincentians at and received on 11 June 1927, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on July 19, 1941 first bishop of the diocese of Caxias do Maranhão , which had been established two years earlier . The Archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia , Augusto Álvaro da Silva , donated him episcopal ordination on September 7th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Carlos Carmelo de Vasconcelos Motta , Archbishop of São Luís do Maranhão , and Felipe Benito Condurú Pacheco , Bishop of Ilhéus .

He attended the first, second and fourth sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.

On February 18, 1981, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
