Luís Manuel Barreira de Sousa (born October 25, 1957 in Lisbon , Portugal ) is a Portuguese diplomat .

Career

On November 13, 2009, Sousa, who was previously Deputy Secretary General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, was appointed Portuguese Ambassador to East Timor . He succeeded João Nugent Ramos Pinto . On April 5, 2013, Sousa's time in Dili ended . His successor in East Timor was Manuel António Gonçalves de Jesus .

On April 6, 2013, Sousa became the Portuguese Ambassador to Thailand . Here he was the successor to Jorge Ryder Torres Pereira . In Laos , Sousa also represented Portugal from his appointment on October 28, 2013. The term of office lasted until April 9, 2014. Then Francisco de Assis Morais e Cunha Vaz Patto took over the post of ambassador.

Since June 20, 2014, Sousa has succeeded Jorge Ryder Torres Pereira as Portuguese Ambassador for Malaysia . In addition, Sousa has been responsible for Vietnam since September 18 as the successor to José Tadeu da Costa Sousa Soares . On March 16, 2015, Sousa presented his accreditation as ambassador to President Trương Tấn Sang . Sousa's official seat is still in Bangkok, Thailand .

Awards

In 2015 Sousa received the Insígnia des Ordem de Timor-Leste from East Timor’s President José Ramos-Horta .
