Luc Mentha

Luc Mentha (born July 1, 1952 ; resident in Cortaillod and Neuchâtel ) is a Swiss politician ( SP ).

Life

Luc Mentha grew up with three siblings as the son of a doctor and a painter. After the father's early death, the mother was a single parent. Mentha passed the state examination as an advocate at the University of Bern in 1979 . From 1980 to 1988 he was a partner in the Bern law firm Huber, Mentha and Trenkel . From 1988 to 2003 he worked as General Secretary of the Directorate for Social Security of the City of Bern and from 2003 to 2004 as General Secretary of the Directorate for Security in the City of Bern. Mentha is married, has two grown sons and lives in Liebefeld in the municipality of Köniz .

From 2004 to 2013 Mentha was mayor of Köniz and since 2010 he is member of the legislative council of the canton of Bern , where he joined in 2014, the construction, energy, transport and land use planning commission.

Mentha is a board member of the Sinnovativ Foundation - Foundation for Social Innovation in Bern, President of the Bern Heritage Protection Association, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Bern Historical Museum and the Selhofen Clinic Foundation in Burgdorf, and Vice President of the Bächtelen Foundation in Wabern .
