history

1985–1987: OFF and 16 BIT

In the autumn of 1986, the single Electrica Salsa , produced by Münzing (* 1952) and Anzilotti together with the Frankfurt DJ Sven Väth in Frankfurt am Main , was released under the pseudonym OFF (Organization For Fun) chosen a year earlier and became a club hit. Münzing, Anzilotti and Väth already knew each other from their work as DJs at the legendary Dorian Gray discotheque at Frankfurt Airport. Before OFF, Münzing had already released records under the pseudonym Curare on the disco music record label Westside.

Almost simultaneously with the success of OFF, Münzing and Anzilotti established their own music project 16 BIT in the German charts towards the end of 1986 . The 16-BIT single Where Are You? ( Vocal : Sven Väth) reached the top 20 in Germany and France and their successor, Changing Minds , also made it into the top 20 in Germany, so that in the spring of 1987 they both released a 16- bit album under the name Inaxycvgtgb. The strange seeming name of the album is based on the melody of the piece (132 beats) xycvgtgb , which could be replayed on an Amiga with a keyboard coding for the pitches that is common on trackers .

1987–1989: retreat and club scene

After these initial successes, Münzing and Anzilotti initially withdrew, as Sven Väth switched back to Dorian Gray in 1987, and worked on a new sound. In mid-1988, Väth and Münzing together with Mathias Martinson bought the Frankfurt Club Vogue, which at that time was a discotheque in a former parking garage without air conditioning. After a complete renovation, the location opened at the height of Acid House in October 1988 as an omen and wrote a new chapter in global club history under this name. For Münzing and Anzilotti, the omen was also a good opportunity to test and improve their new music titles in front of a disco audience.

1989–1996: Foundation and international success with Snap!

In 1989 Münzing and Anzilotti returned under the pseudonyms Benito Benites and John Virgo Garrett III with the Eurodance project SNAP! returned to the music scene and wrote their own chapter in dance history. From then on, both of them produced their music under the Logic Records label in a studio / office complex on the first floor of a commercial building in Offenbach 's Kaiserlei district .

The global success story of the producer duo began in early 1990 with the international megahit The Power . After more than 20 million sold The Power sound carriers followed in the same year with Ooops Up , Cult of SNAP! and Mary Had a Little Boy three more hits. The SNAP! Album World Power , released in the spring of 1990, is one of the most successful dance albums of the 1990s, with well over seven million records sold.

After a short break, they returned with Snap! and the single Color Of Love back. In spring 1992 followed with Rhythm is a Dancer, the best-selling single in Germany and England, which was also able to stay in the US Billboard charts for 39 consecutive weeks. In their home country alone, the title written by Münzing and Anzilotti was number one for ten weeks. The singles Exterminate and Do You See The Light (Looking For) were decoupled from the corresponding second album The Madmans's Return , which also achieved top 10 placements.

In the late summer of 1994 the single and the album of the same name, Welcome to Tomorrow, followed . The second single The First, The Last, Eternity also made it to the top ten of the charts, at least in Germany. After that, the success subsided: The subsequent title The World in My Hands only reached number 53 in Germany. The song Rame was able to land in the top 40 again in spring 1996, but the heat was over.

In the summer of 1996 a compilation of all hits from Snap! Followed, but at the same time no new singles followed.

Since 1996: New ways

After Münzing and Anzilotti had turned more to trance from 1996 onwards , the great success outside Germany did not materialize.

Nevertheless, the music productions by Münzing and Anzilotti also became number one hits in the USA, their albums remaining on German sales lists for dozens of weeks, 14 weeks of which were number one. They had seven number one hits worldwide and have sold around 100 million records to date. Due to the fact that Münzing and Anzilotti were always in the business as composers, lyricists, artists and producers, they are among the most successful German musicians with a total income of an estimated 300 million euros.

Entrepreneurial activities

In 1986 Münzing and Anzilotti founded Master-Musikproduktions GmbH and in 1988 Logic Records. In 1994 they sold Logic Records as the world's most successful dance label to the Bertelsmann Music Group (BMG). In 1998 they bundled their diverse entrepreneurial activities in the newly founded IN-motion AG, through which, however, the insolvency proceedings were opened in December 2006 , which have not yet been completed (as of July 2012). The aim at the time was to become a global player in the entertainment industry with IN-motion AG.
