Luca Zaia
Luca Zaia (born March 27, 1968 in Conegliano , Treviso province ) is an Italian politician of the Lega Nord and entrepreneur . He is the acting President of the Veneto Region . In the fourth government of Silvio Berlusconi , he was Italian Minister of Agriculture and Forestry until March 2010.

Zaia is the son of a car mechanic. After graduating from the Scuola enologica Giovanni Battista Cerletti in Conegliano , Zaia studied agricultural science with a specialization in animal production at the University of Udine. For his party, the Lega Nord , he sat on the local council of Godega di Sant'Urbano . In June 1997 he was elected provincial president of Treviso and confirmed in this office on June 9, 2002 with 69.2% of the votes in a runoff election.
In May 2005, after the victory of the center-right alliance Casa delle Libertà in the regional elections, he was appointed vice-president of the Veneto region and took over the office of regional assessor for agriculture and tourism. From May 2003 to April 2008 he was also a member of the Treviso City Council and since July 2006 has had a seat on the Provincial Council of his home province.
On May 8th, 2008 he was appointed Italian Minister of Agriculture and Forestry when the new government of Popolo della Libertà , Lega Nord and Movimento per l'Autonomia took office. This made him the only minister in Berlusconi's fourth cabinet who had never run for one of the two national chambers of parliament. Prior to that, he devoted his political work to the local Marca Trevigiana , for which he set emphasis on transport and tourism policy in his local offices.
Luca Zaia was elected as the new President of the Veneto Region on March 28 and 29, 2010 with 60.15% of the vote. The election campaign was supported by the Benetton think tank Fabrica . The Lega Nord emerged as the strongest party in this region with 35.15%. After the election victory, he spoke out against a secession of “ Padania ” from Italy: “I am in favor of autonomy and federalism , but only as our constitution provides and not against them”.
As before in the ministerial office, as President of the Veneto Region , he is against immigration.
In the regional elections on May 31, 2015, Zaia was confirmed in office with 50.9% and a voter turnout of 57.16%.
