Luciano José Cabral Duarte

Luciano José Cabral Duarte (born January 21, 1925 in Aracajú , Brazil; † May 29, 2018 ibid) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Aracajú .

Life

Luciano José Cabral Duarte was ordained a priest for the diocese of Aracajú on January 18, 1948 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on July 14, 1966 auxiliary bishop in Aracajú and titular bishop of Gadiaufala . The Archbishop of Aracajú, José Vicente Távora , donated him episcopal ordination on October 2nd of the same year ; Co- consecrators were José Bezerra Coutinho , Bishop of Estância , and José Brandão de Castro CSsR , Bishop of Propriá .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on February 12, 1971 Archbishop of Aracajú. On August 26, 1998, Pope John Paul II accepted his early resignation.

He was also president of the state university chamber in the state of Sergipe in the northeast of Brazil . He was the namesake of several educational institutions.
