Lucius Thomas

Lucius Thomas (* 1949 in Murray Mountain , Saint Ann Parish ) is a Jamaican retired police officer . From 2005 to 2007 he was the police commissioner of the country.

Life

Thomas joined the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) police force in 1949 . He started there with the riot police and was then transferred to Kingston Central, the JCF's criminal investigation department. He was a member of a special unit for 25 years. The first promotion to the Corporal of Police was in 1977. In 1983 he was Sergeant , 1987 Inspector, 1989 Thomas Assistant Superintendent, 1991 Deputy Superintendent, 1996 Superintendent and 1998 Senior Superintendent. He was promoted to Assistant in 1999, and to Deputy Commissioner in 2001. His last assignment was from January 19, 2005 until his retirement on October 31, 2007, the highest office of Police Chief in Jamaica.

As a member of the People's National Party (PNP), he was nominated as a candidate for the constituency of Saint Ann-Northwest in 2011, but then renounced his candidacy in the election on December 29.

On July 3, 2012, he took office as the coordinator of the social services of the police in the Ministry of State Security (Ministry of National Security) Minister Peter Bunting on.
