William Eden Clarke

William Eden Clarke , partly also written Clark (December 1863 in Saint Ann Parish , † January 19, 1940 in Kingston ), was a Jamaican colonel and police officer in the British Colonial Police Service .

career

Clarke entered the service of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) on December 1, 1879 . In 1890 he was promoted to sub- inspector . During his work in the police depot from 1901 to 1908, he was wounded in 1902 together with the then police chief Edward F. Wright as part of the riots in Montego Bay , which began in front of the local courthouse. In 1912 he served as the JCF's deputy chief of police .

In 1913 he was transferred to the post of police chief of the Barbados Police Force with an associated promotion to Inspector General . In 1915 he became chief of the Guyana Police Force in British Guiana . In British Guiana he was most recently president of the Scout Association of Guyana , the national scout organization .

From 1918 he worked as police chief in his home country. His retirement took place on May 31, 1925.
