Lucjan Antoni Feliks Rydel (born May 17, 1870 in Kraków , † April 8, 1918 in Bronowice Małe ) was a Polish poet and playwright of the Young Poland period.
He was the son of the ophthalmologist and rector of the Jagiellonian University , Lucjan Rydel (1833–1895), and his wife Helena geb. Kremer and grandson of the philosopher Józef Kremer . He studied law in Cracow and art in Berlin and received a scholarship from the Polska Akademia Umiejętności in Paris . His marriage to the painter's sister-in-law Włodzimierz Tetmajer became famous when she became the subject of a picture by Tetmajer and the drama Wesele by Stanisław Wyspiański .
