Lucy Rose Parton (born June 28, 1989 in Warwickshire ) is a British singer-songwriter .

Life

Lucy Rose Parton grew up in Warwickshire and began to develop her musical talent at an early age. Among other things, she played the piano at home and wrote some of her own pieces. She played drums in the school orchestra. At 16 she bought a guitar and learned to play it. Her musical rise began when she moved to London at the age of 18. According to an interview, she was musically influenced by, among others, Neil Young and Joni Mitchell . She started performing mostly at open mic events and slowly established herself in the London scene. She also met Jack Steadman from the folk band Bombay Bicycle Club , who hired her as a background singer for the albums Flaws and A Different Kind of Fix . Then she started to publish her videos on YouTube . Some of them achieved high traffic.

She signed a contract with Columbia Records in 2011 . For her first album Like I Used To , she returned to her parents' apartment and recorded the entire album in the basement together with producer Charlie Hugall and a band. The band included guitarist Björn Ågren, drummer Sam Nadel, bassist Joe Steer ( Broadcast 2000 ) and Alex Eichenberger. The album was released on September 24, 2012 and is available on CD or download. On July 12, 2013, it opened for Elton John in Hyde Park . She has also performed at all major festivals in Great Britain, including Leeds , Reading and Glastonbury Festivals . 2013 she was also on the album Rewind the film of the Manic Street Preachers to hear. The song This Sullen Welsh Heart is a duet with singer James Dean Bradfield .
