Ludger Joseph Heid (also categorized as L. Joseph Heid , pseudonym Theodor Joseph ; * 1945 in Warendorf , Westphalia ) is a German modern historian who is best known for his publications on social history , the labor movement and German-Jewish history .

Live and act

Ludger Heid studied history , Jewish studies and education at the University of Duisburg . He then went to Israel for a research stay and from 1974 worked as a teacher in Duisburg. In 1981 he became a workers' party with the work From the Guild. Social Democracy in Duisburg 1848–1878 Dr. phil. PhD . At the University of Potsdam he obtained the Venia legendi for modern history and in 1993 he became Maloche - not charity. Eastern Jewish proletarians in Germany 1914–1923 qualified as a professor .

Heid is a lecturer at the University of Duisburg-Essen and regular writer in our time concerning the weekly Time . He writes for the Süddeutsche Zeitung , Der Freitag , Tachles , Jüdische Allgemeine and Jüdische Zeitung . He is co-editor of the "Campus Judaica" series at Campus-Verlag Frankfurt am Main.

Allegations of plagiarism

Plagiarism allegations were made against Heid. In his dissertation published in 1983, according to a review in the journal Archiv für Sozialgeschichte , numerous literal copies from other texts can be found without corresponding evidence. In Heid's recent publication Ostjuden in Duisburg: Citizens, Petty Bourgeois, Proletarians. History of a Jewish minority in the Ruhr area (Essen 2011), the 18-page essay by a former colleague of the author was incorporated verbatim and without evidence.
