Ludger van Gisteren

Ludger van Gisteren (* 1957 ) is a German psychologist and university professor.

Career

Van Gisteren studied sociology , psychology and human medicine at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . After graduating in psychology, he worked as a research assistant at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University from 1983 to 1990. From 1991 to 2005 he was a lecturer in the social sciences department at the university. In addition to this professional activity, he trained as a psychoanalyst at the Sigmund Freud Institute in Frankfurt am Main from 1990 to 1996 . He also worked as an outpatient psychotherapeutic and psychoanalytical practitioner.

In 2002 Ludger van Gisteren worked as a private lecturer in psychology at the Department of Psychology at the University of Bremen . In 2005 he went to Hanover , where he was initially a lecturer at the Faculty of Education at the Philosophical Faculty of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University of Hanover . Subsequently, between 2005 and 2008, he worked as a professor of child and adolescent psychotherapy and scientific director at the Winnicott Institute.

After further positions, Gisteren was Professor of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy Science at the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna from 2010 to 2012 , where he was also Vice-Rector for Research between 2011 and 2012. Since 2012 he has represented the professorship for psychology with a focus on developmental psychology at the University of Passau . At the Brandenburg Medical School, founded on October 28, 2014, he was the head of the newly founded Department of Psychology.
