Life

Origin and family

Ludolf von Oer came from the Westphalian noble family von Oer , whose origins lay in the Hofverband Oer , today's district of Oer-Erkenschwick . His parents were Heidenreich von Oer (* around 1360, knight) and Godeke Droste zu Kakesbeck . She was an heir, so that by marriage in 1383 the Kakesbeck Castle came into the possession of the von Oer family. Heidenreich von Oer , Ludolf's grandfather, received Oer as his own property in 1389. His son Heinrich - Ludolf's uncle - tried to make this property independent from Cologne , but failed. Ultimately, the family lost all their property in Vest Recklinghausen and initially lived at Haus Rauschenburg . The Archbishop of Cologne expelled the von Oers so that from 1436 they found refuge at Kakebeck Castle.

In 1431, Ludolf, together with his father and siblings, waived all claims to Horneburg Castle , the original family seat, towards the Archbishop of Cologne . His siblings were

  • Sander (Canon in Münster)
  • Dietrich, Lord of the Rauschenburg House , ∞ Catharina Korff called Schmising
  • Bernhard, heir to the Kakesbeck family , ∞ Elseken Korff
  • Elseke, ∞ Heidenreich von Schürmann (lord of the castle of Rheda)

Act

Ludolf was first mentioned in a document on April 13, 1417 as the canon of Münster. In August 1429 he vowed to observe the new statute of the cathedral winery. In 1431 he was a cathedral waiter and was also elected provost of St. Mauritz in Münster . He refrained , however, the following year in favor of John Walling , of the Pope had received for this office a commitment. This matter led to an objection by the cathedral chapter , as it felt ignored and was of the opinion that Walling was not able to function as a liege because of his non-noble descent.

Ludolf's marriage to Mette von Vornholte, called Cracht, took place in 1435. This year he is mentioned for the last time as the Münster canon.
