Ludolph Schrader

Ludolph Schrader (* 1531 in Braunschweig ; † July 8, 1589 there ) was a German lawyer , professor and rector of the Brandenburg University of Frankfurt . He was married to Catharina Gastmeister from 1566.

Life

He studied with his brother Autor in Wittenberg in 1545 , in Leipzig in 1547 and in Bologna in 1553 , where he was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD , the rights . From 1553 he held lectures at the University of Wittenberg , in 1558 he became full professor of law at the Brandenburg University of Frankfurt, where he taught until 1584. In 1559 and 1568 and from 1579 he was rector of this university.

As legal advisor and legal advisor to the Emperors Maximilian II and Rudolf II , as well as the Electors of Brandenburg , numerous other princes as well as several important noble families , he had political influence and became a famous lawyer of his time. He became the Imperial, Brandenburg and Brunswick-Lüneburg Council and was the emperor in the knighthood raised.

In 1585 he returned to Braunschweig and in 1589 founded the “Dr. Ludolph Schradersche Family Scholarship to Braunschweig ” . He is buried in the Katharinenkirche in his native Braunschweig, where there is still his grave with a portrait and an epitaph with a crucifixion relief and the kneeling figures of Prof. Ludolph Schrader and his wife by Georg Roettger, as well as a communion chalice donated by him with an enamel coat of arms . His wife died on August 24, 1591.
