Ludwig Babenstuber

Ludwig Babenstuber (* 1660 in Deining near Munich as Balthasar Babenstuber ; † April 5, 1726 in Ettal ) was a German Benedictine and professor at the Salzburg University.

Life

Balthasar Babenstuber completed his high school studies in 1680 at the Jesuit high school in Munich (today Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich ).

He had been a Benedictine in Ettal since 1681 , from 1690–93 he was professor of philosophy at the University of Salzburg , after which he worked for two years in Schlehdorf Abbey . Between 1695 and 1717 he was professor of casuistry , scholastic theology and exegesis in Salzburg . Between 1709 and 1716 he was also the University's Pro-Chancellor . From 1717 until his death he lived again in his Ettal monastery .

As a scholar he enjoyed an important reputation in his day.
