Ludwig Christ (born August 16, 1791 in Chur ; † January 14, 1876 ​​there ) was a Swiss lawyer , military and writer .

Life

Born as the son of a senior guild master, Christ entered the Piedmontese military service in order not to have to fight on the side of Napoleon . From 1816 to 1820 he studied law and philosophy (also with Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel ) in Berlin . During his studies in 1818 he was one of the founders of the old Berlin fraternity . In 1818 he took part as a representative of the Berlin fraternity on the 2nd Burschentag (October 10-18) in Jena . Together with Wilhelm Adolf Lette, he belonged to a group of duel opponents who, however, could not prevail within the fraternity.

In 1821 he founded the Schweizerisches Volksblatt in Zurich . He became a lawyer in Chur. He was district chief of the Grisons militia and later became a lieutenant colonel in the Swiss general staff . He also edited the Bündner Zeitung . He failed with his own newspaper Der Morgenstern and subsequently worked as an interrogator in Glarus from 1842 to 1856 . From 1856 to 1860 he was employed as editor of the Churer Rheinquellen , then in the Glarner Zeitung . He later made a trip through North America .
