Ludwig Dauber

Heinrich Ludwig August Dauber (born September 22, 1798 in Gandersheim , † April 11, 1885 in Holzminden ) was a German high school teacher , school director (1854-1884) and honorary citizen of Holzminden.

Life

Dauber was born in 1798 as the son of the manufacturer Ad. Leopold Dauber was born in Gandersheim. From 1811 he attended the Latin school in Northeim and from 1814 to 1817 the monastery and town school in Holzminden. After graduating in 1817, he went to the Georg-August-Universität in Göttingen until 1820 , where he studied theology and philology , among others with Georg Ludolf Dissen . After completing his studies, he went to Holzminden in 1820, where he found a job as a collaborator at the local high school . In 1828 he became deputy principal and on October 17, 1854 director. In 1859 he was given the title of professor and in 1869 the title of school councilor . On September 23, 1870 he retired after 50 years of school service. In the same year he was made an honorary citizen of Holzminden and was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Henry the Lion .

His son Karl Dauber also became director of the high school in Holzminden in 1884.
