Ludwig Friedrich (Württemberg-Mömpelgard)
Ludwig Friedrich von Württemberg-Mömpelgard (born January 29, 1586 in Mömpelgard ; † January 26, 1631 ibid) was the founder of a branch of the Württemberg ducal house and Duke of Württemberg-Mömpelgard .
family
Ludwig Friedrich von Württemberg was born as the fifth child and second oldest son of Duke Friedrich I von Württemberg and Princess Sibylla von Anhalt at Mömpelgard Castle .
Life
Ludwig Friedrich's older brother, Duke Johann Friedrich von Württemberg, gave him full sovereignty on May 28, 1617 in a "brotherly prince comparison" of all of Württemberg's possessions on the left bank of the Rhine ( Mömpelgard , Reichenweiher , Horburg ). Ludwig Friedrich became the founder of the younger branch of Württemberg-Mömpelgard . His government was under the strain of the Thirty Years War , which also led to famine and the plague epidemic in Mömpelgard . After the death of his brother Duke Johann Friedrich on July 28, 1628, he was appointed guardian of the only thirteen-year-old Eberhard III. appointed to Stuttgart. His tenure there was marked by the disputes following the edict of Emperor Ferdinand II's restitution , through which Württemberg lost about a third of its territory. In November 1630 he returned sick to Mömpelgard, where he died on January 26, 1631.
Marriage and offspring
Ludwig Friedrich married Elisabeth Magdalena of Hessen-Darmstadt on July 14, 1617 . The marriage had three children:
