Ludwig Kohli

Ludwig Adolf Friedrich Kohli (born February 25, 1769 in Plate , Principality of Lüneburg , † September 17, 1838 in Oldenburg ) was archive secretary in Oldenburg and head of the provincial archive.

Life

Kohli grew up as the son of a preacher. After the early death of his father, he received a free place at the Knight Academy in Lüneburg . From 1789 he attended the University of Göttingen , where he studied theology .

After graduating, he worked as a tutor for a Mecklenburg landowner family. From 1800 he accompanied a young student to Göttingen as court master. On this occasion he attended law lectures. In 1802 he went back to Mecklenburg . In Güstrow he passed the legal exam and then had to work as a reader for the Mecklenburg Chamberlain von Lehsten . In 1805 he got a job as a clerk in Lübeck . This was followed by a short episode as Count Rantzau-Breitenburg's secretary . In 1815 he went to the Oldenburg state service as an official auditor in Ganderkesee .

From October 18, 1817 until the end of his life he was archives secretary in Oldenburg, he took over the management of the state / provincial archive.

On December 30, 1817, Kohli married Christine Friederike Brase (approx. 1776-20 November 1832), she was the widow of Pastor Friedrich Christoph Butze in Leveste . There were no children from the marriage.

Act

Kohli wrote several articles in magazines and published a statistical handbook on the duchy. He collected the data for the handbook from 1816 and 1821. Kohli's collection of materials is recited to the present day.
