Ludwig Martin Rade (born August 16, 1939 in Dresden ) is a German engineer and politician ( FDP ) and former member of the Saxon state parliament .

Life

His father, Martin Rade, was a production engineer at Siemens-Elektrowärme-Gesellschaft and, after the war, works manager of VEB Elektrowärme Sörnewitz (EWS). The mother, Marie Luise née Ranze, was a tailor. Ludwig Martin Rade attended elementary and high school in Meissen , where he also graduated from high school. Rade went to the Karl-Marx-Stadt University of Mechanical Engineering to study . He later studied electrical engineering at the TH or TU Dresden , graduating as a graduate engineer in the faculty of electrical engineering in 1964. Between 1964 and 1989, he worked in the field of automation technology in refractory ceramics and metallurgy. From 1990 to 1991 he was the head of the district office in Meißen for the legal and regulatory office. From 1995 to 2001, Ludwig Martin Rade was the permanent representative of the head of department in the Saxon Road Construction Office in Meißen.

Rade is Protestant, married and has two children. He is largely related to the theologian and liberal politician Paul Martin Rade .

In 1969 Rade joined the LDPD to avoid membership in the SED . Between 1970 and 1974 he was a district board member of the Meißner LDPD and from 1974 to 1989 deputy district chairman. In 1989/1990, Ludwig Martin Rade was a full-time district secretary of the LDPD and, from February 1990 to October 1994, deputy state chairman of the FDP. Rade was also a member of the federal executive committee of the FDP from 1991 to 1995.

In October 1990, Rade was elected to the Saxon state parliament via the state list of the FDP Saxony , to which he belonged for an electoral period until 1994. There he was a member of the special committee to investigate abuse of office and power as a result of SED rule and spokesman (chairman) of the evaluation committee to review the members of the Saxon state parliament and the state government for possible cooperation with the former Ministry for State Security of the GDR. In addition, he was a member of the Interior Committee, the Workability Investigation Committee of the Saxon State Parliament and the Building and Transport Committee.

In 1993 and 1994 Rade was chairman of the FDP parliamentary group. In 1991 he founded the Wilhelm Külz Foundation , of which he was Chairman of the Board of Directors until 2010.

Ludwig Martin Rade was dubbed “recorder” in 1993 with three other Liberal Democrats as part of his work as deputy parliamentary group leader in the Saxon state parliament. As a result, he coined the expression: "Better a recorder than an ass violin".

Volunteering

From 1991 to 1993 Rade was a member of the supervisory board of the Sächsische Winzergenossenschaft Meißen e. V.

In addition, he was in the Meißen city council from 1990/1991 and from 2004 to 2009 and from 1995 to 2004 and from 2008 to 2014 chairman of the FDP parliamentary group in the Meissen district.

From 1997 to 2002 Ludwig Martin Rade was a member of the advisory board of the Federal Commissioner for the Records of the State Security Service of the former GDR.

From 2002 to 2004 Ludwig Martin Rade was a member of the supervisory board of Elblandkliniken Meißen-Radebeul.

From 2007 to 2014 Rade was a member of the Board of Directors of Sparkasse Meißen .

Honors

  • On May 1st, 1980 Rade received the medal "Banner of Work Level III" in the collective for the development of the ZIM industrial robot (Central Engineering Company of the GDR Metallurgy).
  • On May 1, 1984 he received the "Order Banner of Labor Stage III" in the collective for the development of gas pulse burner systems for tunnel kilns in the refractory industry.
  • On May 15, 2010 he was awarded the Saxon Constitutional Medal by State Parliament President Matthias Rößler for his work in rebuilding parliamentary democracy in Saxony .
  • On April 9, 2016, he received the Wilhelm Külz Medal of Honor from the Wilhelm Külz Foundation for special services to Saxon liberalism.
  • On January 16, 2018 he received the honorary award of the city of Meissen for his services and his commitment to civil society
