Ludwig Stimmler
Ludwig Stimmler (born September 29, 1940 in Weinstadt ; † January 31, 2003 there ) was a German jazz musician ( double bass , band leader). He was considered one of the leading German bass players in the field of hot jazz and swing .
Act
Stimmler has been a member of the Darktown Jazz Band since it was founded in 1958 , with whom he recorded three LPs (most recently Pretty Little Missie , 1980). He was also a long-time member of the Stuttgart Dixieland Allstars , with whom he has presented various albums since 1973 and which he has directed since 1979. He also belonged to the Slick Salzer Swing Quartet and also presented recordings in the trio by Werner Lener . Tom Lord recorded 21 jazz recordings between 1963 and 1996. On tours he accompanied American musicians such as Bud Freeman , Billy Butterfield , Jimmy McPartland , Dick Cary and Danny Moss . Major Holley , with whom he was friends, always played one of his instruments on tours in Germany.
