The Ludwigshütte was an ironworks located near Ziegenrück , which was later converted into a wool spinning mill. Today a street name reminds of this facility.

At the end of the 19th century, the place consisted of two factory buildings, between which there was a turbine house, and twelve other buildings, which were used as housing for officials and workers, stables, utility rooms and storage rooms. The factory buildings were built in 1872 and the residential buildings in the 1840s.

The administration of the Ludwigshütte publicly announced the sale of the hut inventory in 1881, including water wheels , cupola ovens and stone molding boxes . The owner of the Ludwigshütte was the then Ziegenrück District Administrator Ludwig Franz von Breitenbauch in Ranis .

The lease for the present in Ludwig hut carded spinning and - weaving ran out 1,883th The previous tenant built his own factory in the town of Pößneck and left Ludwigshütte. As a result, the lease or sale of the building complex was publicly tendered as early as 1882.

Later parts of the factory were used as a wood grinding shop. A weir was built in the Saale at this time.
