Luigi ( Japanese ル イ ー ジ , Ruīji ; [ɾɯ.iː.ʑi]) is a character from the video games in the Super Mario series. He is the younger twin brother of Nintendo's mascot Mario and is the second most famous character in the series after him.

Emergence

During the development of the game Donkey Kong , the Japanese game developer and creator of the Super Mario series Shigeru Miyamoto was inspired by the game Joust to produce a multiplayer mode for the Super Mario games. Finally, he in 1983 developed the Jump 'n' Run Mario Bros. , where Luigi first appeared and was a playable character. The name "Luigi" comes from a pizza place called Mario and Luigi's , which was located near the Nintendo of America headquarters. His voice actor is Charles Martinet .

Appearance and character
