Live and act

Luigi Battiferri was a priest and probably a student of Girolamo Frescobaldi . From 1650 to 1653 was Kapellmeister at the Cathedral of Spoleto . In the same year he followed Biagio Marini as Kapellmeister of the "Accademia della Morte" in Ferrara. From 1658 he held the office of cathedral music director in Urbino , later as music director of the "Accademia della Morte" in Ferrara . In 1665 he was Kapellmeister at the Cathedral of Pesaro , a jar later in Urbino, where his main residence was. In 1669 he was conductor of the "Accademia dello Spirito Santo" in Ferrara. In 1682 Battiferri entered into a notarial deed to build a chapel in the church of his birthplace Sassocorvaro at his own expense.

His five collections of works in print were published by the publisher Giacomo Monti in Bologna around 1669 . They contain motets and polyphonic ricercari . Several copies of Battiferri's works can be found in the estates of Johann Joseph Fux and Jan Dismas Zelenka .
