Career

Alexander Romanov began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Chimik Voskressensk , for whose professional team he made his debut in the super league in the 1998/99 season . In his rookie year , the winger scored a goal in 15 games and had to accept relegation to the Wysschaja Liga , the second Russian division, with his team . In this he played for Chimik Voskressensk until he moved to Neftjanik Leninogorsk in the 2002/03 season within the Vysschaya League . The 2003/04 season he spent in the Vysschaya League at THK Tver and ended it at his home club from Voskressensk, which had meanwhile been promoted back to the Super League.

The 2004/05 season began Romanov again at Chimik Voskressensk in the Superliga, but moved to the second division THK Tver and its league rivals Neftjanik Leninogorsk during the season . In the following season the left shooter was under contract with the second division Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod . He then joined Chimik Voskressensk one more time. With his team he rose in the 2007/08 season as a second division champion in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . In the 2008/09 season he scored seven goals for Chimik in 55 KHL games and provided 15 templates. After the club then had to withdraw from the KHL for financial reasons, the Russian stayed in the KHL and switched to Vitjas Chekhov . Between 2009 and 2012 he was active for Vitjas before he was signed by HK Ryazan from the Vysschaja Hockey League in the summer of 2012 . For Ryazan, he completed 30 appearances in the second division before he signed a contract with the KHL team HK Sibir Novosibirsk in December 2012 . For Sibir he then completed over 84 KHL games.

In August 2014 he was signed by Metallurg Novokuznetsk and completed 118 KHL games for the club before moving to Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg in May 2016 .
