Fanfulla (actor)

Fanfulla (actually Luigi Visconti ; born February 26, 1913 in Rome , † January 5, 1971 in Bologna ) was an Italian actor .

Life

Fanfulla began his stage career at a young age in secondary provincial touring theaters. The son of the star of the "Avanspettacolo" (a specifically Italian theater genre closely related to revue and variety ) Diavolina (that is, the Bolognese Mercedes Menolesi) founded his own troupe at the beginning of the 1940s, in whose variety and Avanspettacolo performances he participated surreal comedy to the actor of the first guard with a completely independent type of representation. On tours in Italy, his ensemble presented well-received entertainment such as E poi diconno che non c'è denaro (1941/42), written by Fanfulla himself, or Il teatro della caricatura (1943/44), in which Anna Magnani , Alberto Sordi , Carlo Rizzo were included , Valentina Cortese and Andrea Checchi played. Fanfulla's stage language was that of the satirical magazines Marc'Aurelio and Bertoldo, and he wore brightly colored jackets.

After the war he continued his stage career as the first comedian; the author duo Mario Amendola and Ruggero Maccari wrote three pieces for him between 1945 and 1951. Other performances during this period were La favola di tutti i tempi and Fanfulla varietà . In 1951 he switched to film, where he was mostly used in his abilities inadequate supporting roles of a schematic nature (with occasional exceptions in Fellini films, for whose Satyricon his performance was also awarded a Nastro d'Argento ). In the season 1967/68 Fanfulla returned to the stage. Divertentissimo , written by Dino Verde , tried to revive the old genre; but even its former star looked above all aged and pathetic.

Fanfulla was married to her colleague Nelly Fioretta until their divorce in 1945.

He died of a heart attack at the age of 57.
