Luis Antonio Nova Rocha

Luis Antonio Nova Rocha (born July 30, 1943 in Subachoque ; † April 9, 2013 ) was Bishop of Facatativá .

Life

Luis Antonio Nova Rocha studied philosophy in 1962/63 at the seminary of the Archdiocese of Tunja and in 1964 at the seminary of Medellín. At the Colegio Aloysiano in Bogota and at the Universidad Javeriana , he studied theology from 1965 to 1968. Pope Paul VI himself consecrated it on August 22, 1968 during the XXXIX. International Eucharistic Congress in Bogota to the priest .

He was parish vicar in Nocaima (1969–1970), pastor in La Vega (1970–1975) and in Madrid (1975–1982). From 1980 to 1983 he was vicar of the administration. From 1983 to 1985 he studied moral theology at the Roman Alphonsianum . From 1985 to 1994 he held various diocesan offices at the same time, such as treasurer, director of Granjas Infantiles del Padre Luna and teacher at the Minor Seminary . From 1994 to 2000 he was professor at the Major Seminary in Bogotá and since 1994 Rector of the Major Seminary in Facativá.

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Equizetum and auxiliary bishop in Barranquilla on February 15, 2002 . He was ordained episcopate on March 9th of the same year by the Bishop of Facatativá, Luis Gabriel Romero Franco ; Co- consecrators were Beniamino Stella , Apostolic Nuncio in Colombia , and Jesús Rubén Salazar Gómez , Archbishop of Barranquilla .

On November 13, 2010 he was by Pope Benedict XVI. appointed Bishop of Facatativá and appointed to office on January 22nd next year.
