Luisa Bergalli (born April 15, 1703 in Venice ; † July 18, 1779 there ) was an Italian poet and librettist .

Life

Luisa Bergalli was the daughter of a merchant from Piedmont . She received a humanistic education and learned French from her father . Since her youth, she was with the poet Apostolo Zeno friends, who also encouraged to write. Her first libretto was performed in 1725 with music by Giovanni Porta at the Venetian Theater San Moisè , two more librettos and a comedy followed in 1728 and 1730.

In 1738 she married the playwright and critic Gasparo Gozzi (1713–1786). From 1747 she was Impresaria of the Teatro Sant'Angelo , for which her husband wrote pieces or translated from French; she herself wrote a number of intermezzi , drammi giocosi and comedies for the San Angelo .

Almost all of her works appeared anonymously. Under the pseudonym Irmida Partenide , she was also a member of the Accademia dell'Arcadia .
