Luise Sophie Chappuzeau (born November 10, 1841 in Westendorf-Dorfmark near Fallingbostel ; died May 11, 1901 in Braunschweig ) was a German deaconess who worked as superior at the Marienstift in Braunschweig .

Live and act

Chappuzeau belonged to a Protestant pastor family who had Huguenot ancestors. She was trained at the Henriettenstift in Hanover and came in 1880 as superior in the newly founded Marienstift in Braunschweig. The position was previously held by Margarethe Schröder, who had left the monastery to get married. Chappuzeau was officially introduced into office on August 25, 1880 in Braunschweig Cathedral by Abbot Thiele. During her work there, the monastery was separated from the Fatherland Women's Association on February 27, 1881 , and the new monastery buildings were built and expanded on Helmstedter Strasse. She also ensured that all parishes across the country were assigned deaconesses who were serving as parish nurses. As superior of the Marienstift she was assisted by the pastor Buschmann, with whom she shared the task of managing the deaconess house. Among other things, she maintained letters to Elise Averdieck in Hamburg.
