Luise von Martens

Luise Henriette von Martens (born January 15, 1828 in Stuttgart ; † September 16, 1894 there ) was a painter and draftsman from Württemberg .

life and work

Luise von Martens was the daughter of the naturalist Georg von Martens and a sister of the zoologist Eduard von Martens .

She studied with Karl Ferdinand Sohn in Düsseldorf and then went on numerous trips abroad. She painted or drew portraits and figure compositions, landscapes, including urban landscapes and still lifes. She died unmarried.

Among other things, she made a portrait of her father, which was taken from her legacy in 1897 and transferred to the Kgl. Museum of Fine Arts in Stuttgart.
