Luitpold Faustner

Luitpold Faustner (born July 10, 1845 in Munich ; † 1925 there ) was a German landscape and genre painter, son of the painter Leonhard Faustner (born February 16, 1815; † April 1, 1884).

Faustner studied from October 30, 1862 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Alexander Strähuber and Sándor Wagner , later until 1869 with Karl Theodor von Piloty .

Together with Piloty and fellow students Franz Defregger and Hermann Kaulbach , he went on a study trip to Venice and northern Italy .

Under the influence of Julius Lange, he mainly painted alpine landscapes, views from Tyrol, Upper Austria and the area around Salzburg. He also painted genre pictures in the style of the Munich school.

Around 1864–1866 he moved to Polling , where he met Carl Spitzweg .

From 1884 he lived in Flintsbach am Inn , later he finally moved to Munich.
