Beginnings

Luka Romero began his football training in 2011 when he joined the youth department of SD Formentera , where his father Diego Adrián Romero was in the first team. In 2011 he completed a trial session at FC Barcelona . A change was not possible because Luka was under ten years old at the time and did not live in the Catalonian region. For the 2014/15 season, his father joined PE Sant Jordi and Luka also switched to the youth of this club. A year later, the RCD Mallorca brought Luka to its youth academy and provided him with an eight-year youth contract. In his first four years with the Bermellones , he scored 230 goals in 108 appearances. Luka Romero was discovered by the Mexican media during this time and Lionel Messi was declared the next . Comparisons with La Pulga were mainly due to his small body size and his offensive style of play. This name was later adopted by foreign media.

Record player in the Primera División

On June 5, 2020, after around five years in the youth team of RCD Mallorca, head coach Vicente Moreno ordered 15-year-old Romero to join the first team. He made his debut in the top Spanish division on June 24, 2020 (31st match day) in the 2-0 away defeat against Real Madrid , when he came on for Iddrisu Baba in the 83rd minute of the game . At 15 years, 7 months and 6 days, he broke Sansón's 80-year-old record as the youngest player to be used in the Primera División. In the remainder of the 2019/20 season he was no longer considered and had to relegate to the Segunda División with the Bermellones .

National team

With his triple citizenship, Luka Romero could play for the Argentinian , Mexican and Spanish national teams.

He participated with the Argentine U15 national team in the U15 South American Championship 2019 in Brazil . In this tournament he was used in six games in which he scored two goals.
