Lukas Schmid

Lukas Schmid (born February 25, 1981 in Munich ) is a German opera singer ( bass ). Since marrying the German opera singer Lisa Wedekind in 2017 , he has been called Lukas Schmid-Wedekind .

Life

After his time as a children's soloist at the Gärtnerplatztheater and the Munich Choirboys, Lukas Schmid was accepted into the Bavarian Singakademie , a talent development institution of the Bavarian Music Council, at the age of 16 as a student of Hartmut Elbert . In 2001, Lukas Schmid received the Germering City Talent Promotion Prize and has since taken part in many concert tours at home and abroad and numerous competitions.

Since 2002 Lukas Schmid studied at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe with Stephan Kohlenberg and successfully participated in numerous master classes ( Brigitte Fassbaender , Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau , Harald Stamm , Júlia Várady , Hilde Zadek and others). He is also interested in the performance practice of early music, in the course of which he took part in courses from Christoph Hammer and Gerd Türk .

In September 2006 he made his debut as a businessman in the scenic world premiere of Nikolaus Schapfel's “The Little Prince” at the Badisches Staatstheater Karlsruhe . In 2007 he became a member of the Karlsruhe Opera Studio. During this time he took on his first major roles with Masetto in Don Giovanni , speaker in Die Zauberflöte and Kuno in Der Freischütz .

In the 2007/08 season the young bass player made his first guest appearance at the Leipzig State Opera under Riccardo Chailly . In spring 2008 he received a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Foundation Bayreuth .

Lukas Schmid has been part of the permanent ensemble of the Karlsruhe State Theater since the 2008/09 season, where he has been heard as Roucher alongside José Cura in Andrea Chénier under the direction of Jacques Delacôte .

In his first permanent engagement, Lukas Schmid takes on several Comprimario roles, which he has had in the repertoire since his time in the opera studio, as well as larger roles ( Kuno , Haly in Die Italienerin in Algier ) and leading roles, see above . z. B. the Fasolt in Das Rheingold .
