Lutold von Znaim (also Litold , Litolda , Ludolf , Lutolf , Czech Litold Znojemský ) († March 15, 1112 ) was Duke of Moravia .

The son of Konrad I and Virpirka von Tengling from the Přemyslid dynasty ruled in the principality of Znojmo from 1092 to 1097 . He was married to the younger Ida von Österreich (also called Ida von Babenberg or Ida von Ostmark ), the daughter of Margrave Leopold II .

Břetislav II. , Who took over the successor business in the Principality of Bohemia after the death of Konrad , tried to regulate his own succession in favor of his brother Bořivoj II, contrary to the principle of the seniorate ("old age law") . His nephew Lutold and his brother Ulrich opposed this , who wanted to enforce their legitimate rights. Initially with little prospect of success - Bořivoj II was the son-in-law of Margrave Leopold II of Austria - Lutold carried out raids from Raabs Castle on the Thaya . He had to leave the castle assigned to him when Leopold's army besieged the castle and was driven out in 1093. After Henry IV had decided the succession to the throne in favor of Bořivoj II, the latter was lenient. Lutold and Ulrich were given permission to return to Moravia.

Ulrich continued to demand his rights to the throne of Bohemia from Heinrich IV. After unsuccessful negotiations with Bořivoj, Ulrich moved to Prague in 1101 with the support of Lutold and Austrian and Bavarian armies. The brothers wanted to snatch the throne from Bořivoj II by force. After the first battle at Malín , however, the less motivated German mercenaries dispersed. Ulrich then retired to Brno and renounced the throne. Lutold, however, regained his principality of Znojmo from Bořivoj II. Nevertheless, from 1107 to 1109 Lutold supported Svatopluk II of Olomouc in the successful conspiracy against Bořivoj II.

After Lutold's death in 1112, his brother Ulrich received the principality of Znojmo. Lutold was probably buried just like Ulrich in the Benedictine monastery they founded in Trebitsch in 1109 .
