Lutz Hochstraate

Lutz Hochstraate (born January 7, 1942 in Dortmund ) is a German actor and theater director .

Life

Lutz Hochstraate graduated from the Berlin Max Reinhardt School for Drama and has worked as an actor for theater and television since 1964, and since 1972 as a theater and opera director. From 1974 to 1979 he held the post of senior director at the Salzburg State Theater , after which he worked as a freelancer at the Schauspiel Frankfurt and the theaters in Bonn and Heidelberg . In 1986 Hochstraate returned to the Salzburg State Theater and was its director until 2004. During this time he worked as a director at home and abroad, for example in Naples, Athens, Verona, St. Gallen, Saarbrücken, Halle, Erfurt and at the Meininger Theater . Hochstraate was chairman of the Camerata Salzburg from 2009 to 2012 and has been a lecturer at the Mozarteum University and the University of Salzburg since 2012 .

Between 1964 and 1983, Lutz Hochstraate also worked extensively for television and made his debut in the crime film Nebelmörder , directed by Eugen York . In addition to guest appearances in two Tatort episodes, he played in 39 episodes of the Australian production Woobinda in 1969 and in 1977 played the lead role as Pastor Schmiedeck in the 13-part series Pastor in Kreuzberg .

Hochstraate was in a relationship with actress Barbara Rütting (1927-2020) between 1969 and 1988 and lived with her until 1980 on a farm in Sommerholz, Austria . In 2002 he was awarded the title of " Professor " and in October 2012 he was made an honorary member of the Salzburg State Theater.
