Lycium schaffneri is a plant type from the genus of Lycium ( Lycium ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

Lycium schaffneri is a 1 to 4 m high shrub that is armed with spines . The leaves are hairless, 18 to 50 mm long and 5 to 11 mm wide.
The flowers are hermaphroditic and five-fold. The calyx is bell-shaped and hairless, the calyx tube is 2 to 3 mm long and covered with 3 mm long calyx tips. The crown is egg-shaped and cream-colored to purple-purple. The corolla tube is 12 to 18 mm long, the corolla lobes are up to 4 mm long. The lower 2 mm of the free-standing part of the stamens is finely haired.
The fruit is a flattened berry with a constriction. It contains four seeds .
Occurrence
The species is common in the Mexican states of Zacatecas and San Luis Potosí .
